I Have A Dream

Chasing goals, chasing dreams, chasing goals, chasing dreams. My life wouldn’t be quite the same without these goals and dreams I set for myself…

I HAVE A DREAM

The past few months have been spent concretising the various steps to achieving a long-time dream in 2013.  This explains the silence…

I HAVE A DREAM

I cannot seem to find the right words to describe my excitement, anticipation, trepidation at the road ahead in 2013. Maybe three letters would suffice…WOW!

I HAVE A DREAM

Join me as I go along this journey. The journey of realising my dream of running 7 marathons on 7 continents! North America, Asia, Australia and Europe continents are in the bag and marathons in the continents of Africa, South America and Antarctica beckon in  2013. While doing so, I am raising funds for the elderly and I hope to increase awareness of the needs of the elderly. All this is in remembrance of my grand-mother “Ah Ma” who brought me up and without whom, I would not be who I am today.

I HAVE A DREAM

The journey begins on http://www.yvonne7marathons7continents.com. Join me as I embark upon these new running adventures in 2013. Spread the word and if possible, do consider making a donation towards the elderly assisted by the TSAO Foundation in Singapore. Thank you for the support!

Where’s the Bright Yellow Ball?

The days are getting shorter while the hemlines are getting longer…

The bright yellow ball is mischievously playing hide-and-seek, meanwhile the somber sky lingers…

Flowers once radiant are withering away as winter hollers…

It’s getting cold, it’s getting dark…

Where Did All the Time Go?

I remember we used to copy one another’s homework, get hauled up for our short school skirts, make last-ditch attempts to squeeze in one year’s worth of school syllabus in a week in order to scrap through our examinations, shout at the top of our voices to cheer our school’s sports teams, think of ways and means to get a chance to speak to the boys we had a crush on, spend an inordinate amount of time at fast-food joints after school’s out and have girly stayovers at your place where we would chat until we could hardly keep our eyelids open. Those were carefree teenage years and somehow, we grew up and became who we are today. Working adults, wives and you, a mother.

Where did all the time go?

My dad sent me a box of my trinkets. A box that I had stashed away more than a decade ago and long forgotten about.  Opening it was akin to opening a Christmas present as I held my breath momentarily in anticipation of what I would find in there. Badges that we proudly wore on our uniforms in our youth stared right back at me as I clicked open the box.  A wave of fond memories engulfed my mind.

Nostalgia warmed my heart. The times we’ve laughed; the times we’ve celebrated; the times we’ve cried; and the times we’ve quarreled. I wondered if we had imagined ourselves to be who we are today when we were younger…

Where did all the time go?

The Heart Goes Pitter Patter

The heart goes pitter patter

and a smile emerges on the face…

That happens when I arrive at unknown cities and countries…

So much to see, to imbibe, to discover and to learn…

Arriving in Iceland did just that to me…

Be still my heart…

I felt like a little kid once again wanting to discover everything around me…

So much to see, to imbibe, to discover and to learn…

And the heart goes pitter patter…

Fantasy Fridays: C’est Les Vacances!

“FANTASY FRIDAYS” is taking a time-out for the next two weeks as we spend time with family, pay homage to the Olympics in London before heading off to explore the arctic, rugged terrain of a country unknown to both of us. C’est les vacances!!!

Arriving at our first destination 🙂

Happy holidays everyone! 🙂
