The Stars of Roland Garros – The 2012 French Open

Who will walk away victorious this weekend? World No. 1 Novak Djokovic or World No. 2 Rafael Nadal? Russian superstar Maria Sharapova or underdog Italian Sara Errani (Sara who?)? We are both rooting for Djokovic but are torn between Sharapova and Errani… An exciting weekend it’ll be!!!

Apart from the tennis players, I think the other group of ‘stars’ of the French Open are those boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen working in the background to ensure that fans around the world are able to enjoy the tennis matches, be it from Roland Garros or from the comfort of their living rooms.

Here’s this other group of stars of Roland Garros – The 2012 French Open.

No ticket, no entry…

The quintessential fans…patient fans…

Usherers ensure that the players are not disturbed by late-comers…

Introducing the umpire…

The line umpires…

Keeping the clay court in good shape throughout the match…

While the television presenter and his crew record their programme…

The boy who can add “Umbrella carrier” in his resume…

I now have a new-found respect for tennis ball boys and girls. They run around a lot around the court during the match…

Papaaa..papaaa..paparazzi…

These sales assistants will convince you that a €72 euro French Open beach towel is actually a bargain…

Of course the real tennis stars can teach us a thing or two about tennis…

“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”
Theodore Roosevelt
